“Re-branding Vino Paradiso—one of Portland’s most well-known wine bars— to Coppia presented a unique goal: pairing the reputation as a first-class wine bar with a desire to promote a new culinary team and food-first image.
“The food focused design direction needed to convey the approachability the wine bar has been known for while ensuring customers know existing ownership was remaining in place. Coppia’s strategy to be a coupling (the literal translation of Coppia in Italian) of food and wine was incorporated into the icon-driven logo. New interior elements at their location in the busy Pearl District were part of the fresh new image, resulting in a re-branding that coordinated design directives across both digital and print media and the physical location.
“Working with Formic Media to maintain search engine placement built under the old name moving forward as Coppia was critical and online elements were created to maintain their placement atop search engine results.”
