“Grønbech & Churchill is a new gourmet restaurant, opened by the acclaimed danish chef Rasmus Grønbech. Located across from the Churchill Park in downtown Copenhagen, the name is evident.
“Rasmus Grønbech asked Re-public to create a complete visual identity for the ambitous restaurant, including logo/wordmark, signage and various printed matter.
“The kitchen of Grønbech & Churchill is modern, innovative and visually sharp and the culinary expression arises from combining the classic and the quirky – and from the principle idea of delicatly refining raw produce with simple intervention.
“The identity is designed to brand the restaurant as a modern and innovative establishment of the highest standard – but also to communicate Grønbech’s ideas and values. Therefore the design takes its inspiration from the culinary process, where fresh and natural ingredients are skilfully treated by the chef, so that a new delicate culinary and visual experience arises. This transformation from raw to refined is expressed throughout the identity by juxtaposing contrasting letter forms, colors and textures. And in the logo and signage, the idea is further expressed by utilizing the natural physical proporties of copper verdigris.
“The brief called for a solution that would allow the restaurant to regularly update and print various menus inhouse, so to lend the plain inhouse prints a more elegant visual appearence, special high-quality paper stock is selected for the menus.
“The visual identity for Grønbech & Churchill has been awarded a Creative Circle Bronze Award 2012 and a red dot design award: winner 2012.”
