“Union Yard is a small independent cafe, situated in a busy commercial area of central Norwich. Their visual identity reflects a primary focus on take-away hot beverages: high quality, locally-sourced tea and coffee for busy commuters. The marque refers to the standard paper coffee cup that embodies this particular product area.
“For a startup business such as this, the application was designed to be as versatile and inexpensive as possible. Using rubber stamps, the branding is easily applied to a wide range of food and drink products. The visual language is muted and rustic, making heavy use of generic cardboard packaging. Bold, unfussy typography appeals to a middle-range target market, whilst making discrete reference to the history of the nearby Aviva (formerly Norwich Union) headquarters.”
