“The museum reopened in 2011 with a striking new glass extension by Eric Parry – a structure that is a bold juxtaposition to the old Museum. The exterior of the building features thin bespoke ceramic panels running vertically up a glass façade; this provided inspiration for the identity.
“A consciously contemporary look was developed that echoes the vertical lines found within the building, and lives up to the striking contemporary interior by architects Softroom. Colours were chosen to reflect the ceramic panels, and a bespoke typeface was designed to further emphasise both the lightness and linear nature of the building.”
